The case for tolerance

The glorification of terrorism, the equation of suicide attacks killing innocent lives (including Muslims) with martyrdom, are an extreme expression of this fanaticism. Another, very troubling, aspect - not limited to a few fanatics but applied by various Islamic states - is the high degree of intolerance shown to members of other faiths.
The editorial goes on to state that in spite of its faults, America has be the refuge of all people suffering from religious persecution. America has a long history of tolerance towards people of all religions- not perfect tolerance, but arguably the most religiously tolerant country on earth.
Perhaps this is why the fanatics hate America so much—- because America is tolerant.
